The Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs registered 33,603 elderly in the City of Muntinlupa. Among them, 115 seniors were 90 years old and above.

Along side this large number of elderly, the national burden of cancer and other incurable chronic illnesses — including HIV & AIDS — has not abated. Less than half of those diagnosed are expected to survive. In other words, more than half of this patient group can no longer expect cure.

Though they do not have cure, they should be able to receive care. However, the stark reality is that many elderly and chronically ill Filipinos are left with no continued plan of care whatsoever.

With this, The Ruth Foundation seeks to fulfill its mission through its main project, Plan for H.O.P.E.. This project is divided into two efforts: care encounters and community empowerment.

Plan for H.O.P.E.
(Hospice Opportunity for Patient Empowerment)

Care Encounters (Home Visits)

We bring dignity and hope to the doorstep of those who may not have easy access to quality medical care. Through the generosity of our donors and partners, our medical team makes regular, scheduled home visits to our patients. We provide them with FREE check-ups, basic nursing care, and supplies when available.

Our encounters cater to the specific & evolving care needs of the individual and family. We plan the frequency of visits depending on their stage of illness. Community and home care nurses spearhead the visits, but with the support of a multidisciplinary care team. This team is made up of doctors, social workers, clergy, counselors, therapists, volunteers and more.

As of 2017, we currently only accept patients who reside in Muntinlupa.

Community Empowerment
(Leadership for H.O.P.E.)

Through our Leadership for H.O.P.E. Education Program, we empower everyone in the community to become equipped in reaching out to their neighbors living with chronic illnesses. We offer introductory talks, certification courses, and case-based learning.
