What are the Leadership for H.O.P.E. Certificate Programs?
The Leadership for H.O.P.E. Certificate Programs were launched in 2015 to further the foundation’s advocacy for palliative care education. These are a series of programs that serve to strengthen core competencies among primary and secondary health care providers. Participants will be equipped with knowledge and skill to extend care within and beyond the hospital setting.

Courses & Seminars Offered
A basic yet meaningful introductory talk, aimed to expose the learner to what Palliative and Hospice Care is all about. Delivered by Palliative Medicine specialist physicians or nurses well experienced in the field.
DURATION: 1-2 hours
ELNEC-CORE: An Introductory Palliative and Hospice Course
The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium CORE is a certification course designed to improve professional confidence, critical judgment and clinical competence in managing patients with life limiting diseases and their families through the learners’ mastery of the ‘Palliative Care Approach.’ It is comprised of eight modules delivered through didactic and interactive learning methods, certified and referenced from the international ELNEC-CORE curriculum administered by City of Hope and American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
DURATION: 1-2 days. Eight (8) modules, each lasting at least 1 hour
ELNEC-PPC (for Pediatric Palliative Care)
ELNEC for Pediatric Palliative Care was developed by experts who recognized the unique needs of children and their families. It was adapted from the ELNEC-Core curriculum in 2003. The course is designed to improve professional confidence, critical judgment and clinical competence in managing pediatric patients with life limiting diseases and their families.
DURATION: 2 day course. Eight (8) modules, each lasting at least 1 hour
(COMING SOON: 2017) Preceptorship/Observership Programs
These are individualized learning methods which involve coming alongside palliative and hospice specialists, physicians and nurses during actual patients rounds. You will get to utilize case-based learning, mentoring and objective structured clinical examination.
DURATION: Learner dependent
(COMING SOON: 2017) Case Manager Modules
This is a set of advanced nursing modules that focus on competencies for Case Managers. It includes topics such as Leadership in Nursing; Discharge Planning; The Family meeting and other advanced communication skills; Interdisciplinary Team Approach and the Case Manager’s role; Emergency and Disaster preparedness in the home care setting; Home Nutritional Support – Enteral & Parenteral; and Wound Care.
DURATION: 1-2 hours per module
